Electric Fry Pan

Do you often find yourself without an electric fry pan? If so, read on!

Today, it is practically a necessity to keep an electric fry pan in your kitchen.  The electric fry pan is an extremely versatile and valuable addition to any kitchen, and can cut down on both cooking time and clean up time.  You can use an electric fry pan to cook meats, vegetables, casseroles, and all different kinds of hot dishes.

Electric fry pans are generally constructed of stainless steel, and feature a Teflon or other non-stick surface on the skillet.  They have a lid to allow for steaming and more intense heat cooking.  Some models feature a glass or windowed lid, which allows you to check up on the meal without having to remove the lid and release heat.  There are also, generally, two handles, one on either side.  The handles make the entire unit easy to move and transport around the kitchen, even while in use.

The cooking surface on most electric fry pans is either square or rectangle, though some oval or circular units are available.  The surface is usually a foot or so wide,  allowing the cooking surface to accommodate a significant portion of food.  Most are designed to provide enough space to cook for a family of at least four.  There is usually a “Warm” setting on the thermostat, which allows the fry pan to keep food warm for late diners or buffet style serving.  The cooking surface on modern fry pans is generally made to accommodate the use of both metal and plastic utensils.

Most electric fry pans also feature an automatic shut-off safety feature on the heating element.  If you accidentally leave the unit on too long, or forget about it while serving or enjoying your meal, the until can shut itself off after a predetermined amount of time, in order to save both the fry pan, and potentially your entire home or kitchen.
